LARKSPUR, Calif. — October 27, 2026. Coastal floodwater is affecting travel near Larkspur and the US 101 corridor as unusually high tides push into low-lying bayfront roads. The Marin County emergency information portal identifies flood-related closures at Larkspur Plaza Drive at Creekside Drive and Lucky Drive near Fifer Avenue.
Separately, the California Highway Patrol’s October 27 incident log recorded roadway flooding at the southbound US 101 Lucky Drive off-ramp at 2:04 p.m.. These are specific locations; a CHP incident entry is not proof that the entire US 101 corridor closed.
Why high tides cause problems near Larkspur
Low-elevation streets and ramps near bays and tidal waterways can fill with seawater when exceptional astronomical high tides combine with elevated sea level. This type of flooding can occur without a downpour. NOAA tide predictions and NWS warnings help residents anticipate another possible round, but the actual closure status must be checked locally.
Current instructions for residents and commuters
Motorists should avoid the named streets while barriers or emergency notices remain in force, follow posted detours, and use Caltrans QuickMap for state-maintained highway ramps. The National Weather Service advisory remains in effect through Friday, October 30, at 5 p.m., with additional high-tide flooding possible. The official portal may update or remove a road closure when conditions change.
The county explicitly advises residents to avoid driving, walking or biking through floodwater. Tidal water can conceal damage, slippery sediment and contamination; any recreational boating or kayaking on flooded traffic lanes should be avoided.
